Welcoming and encouraging children and young people
We value …
children and young people.
Our vision is …
to build a church in which children and young people are welcomed and affirmed; a church in which they become confident followers of Jesus and fulfil their callings.
Children and young people were often at the heart of Jesus’ teachings. They were important to him. As a bbenefice we long to offer children and young people opportunities to encounter God and to help them recognise the important part that they can play in building God’s Kingdom.
Revd’s Suzanne and Philippa regularly visit Norton C of E Primary School and Norton Nippers, lead school assemblies and work with the Open the Book team. Experience Journeys, to explore the seasons of Easter, Christmas and Advent, and prayer spaces based around The Lord’s Prayer have been held in school. In January 2017, iSingPOP ® spent a whole week in school!
Messy Church happens every other month and plans for additional sessions are already in place.
We want to hear from you as we continue to develop this value, but some ideas we are already exploring are:
a children and young people’s team
a singing group
an after school club
prayer support in the school
What skills and talents are needed to grow this vision?
a love and understanding of children and a willingness to be involved in this ministry
a sense of fun
a connection with the school (not a necessity)
ability to think outside the box
