Children & Families

Our Children & Young People’s Team are passionate in their belief that young people should be at the centre of all we do in the benefice and encouraged with our help to know Jesus and follow his teaching.

As a team we knew we needed to try to reach our children and young people more and lockdown presented us with a great opportunity to interact with the youngest members of our church family in a way we’d never tried before. We went online!

Each week we film a short 20-minute video with lots of fun challenges, interesting bible stories, crazy singing and dancing and lots more and make this available on a Sunday afternoon. To view the video just click BIT.LY/STBKIDS

Now that Covid restrictions have been relaxed we’re inviting children to join in a mixture of online and  in person worship. The regular monthly programme looks like this:

1st SUNDAY – 10 – 10.15 am, live worship for children on Zoom

2nd SUNDAY – Children meet in Sandhurst village hall for craft activities relating to the previous week’s theme from 10-10.20. We then invite families to join the 10.30 am Worship Together service in the Church.

4th SUNDAY – Children meet at 10.30 am in Sandhurst village hall for Children’s worship, with singing, dancing, story, craft activities, challenges and more, for an hour during the Contemporary Morning Worship service in Church.

In more normal times, the team have organised Easter & Harvest trails, Messy Church sessions, a regular activity box for children to investigate when at church and more.

As a benefice we have close links with Norton CE Primary School, through an after school club, Open the Book and regular Collective Worship led by our clergy. On the school governing body we are represented by the priest-in-charge and 2 foundation governors.
