In the great commission Jesus said, “Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptise them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I told you.” This commission was given to every follower of Jesus, not to vicars and missionaries alone!

It is a big responsibility yet an incredible honour to be used by God, and so we seek to be equipped for the task. As disciples ourselves, we want to be growing in faith. Our personal bible study and teaching at church Sunday by Sunday are important. Our home groups meet fortnightly in people’s homes, providing an opportunity for fellowship, studying the bible together and praying for each other.

During Lent and Advent, our Benefice comes together for a short series of studies on a theme, often using a published study guide . The Benefice has run the Alpha course a number of times.

Ageing Gracefully was led by Dr Ian Donald, its author, in 2024. This course in practical theology explored the joys and challenges of growing old from a Christian and Biblical perspective, and so helped to equip the church for its pastoral care. Similarly, in 2025 we ran the Bereavement Journey Course, a 7-week course for anyone who wants to talk together with others who are bereaved. The course has 2 short videos to watch each week, followed by discussion in groups.
